Milwaukee: Race Recap

Playa Del Racing went to Milwaukee with one goal. That goal was to get back to the roots of Playa Del Racing. The team prides itself of having fun at the race track, and enjoying the incredible sport that is Indy racing. The team accomplished that goal with flying colors.

Al Unser III piloted his Playa Del Racing/Ethos Fuel Reformulator to a 7th place finish at the oldest and one of the toughest oval tracks in the country. After starting a disappointing 16th Unser managed to avoid a melee on the opening lap, and then went on to make several dicey passes throughout the race.

Unser’s climb through the field was exactly what the Playa Del Racing team needed in the aftermath of a heart wrenching Indianapolis 500 that ended with both PDR entries hitting the wall.

“We came into Milwaukee just wanting to show a good result, and do it the way that we wanted to when we founded this team,” said co-owner Susan Schafer.

Playa Del Racing will return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway June 16 and 17 for Indy Pro Series double header on the road course. Phil Giebler, the 2007 Indianapolis 500 Chase Rookie of the Year, will drive the No.12 Playa Del Racing entry.

“I’m excited to go road racing with PDR again,” said Giebler. “We had a very promising run earlier this year in St. Petersburg, so I expect to improve those results at Indy.”

Giebler will be a favorite to break Alex Lloyd’s undefeated streak of all the races this year in the Indy Pro Series. Make sure you come out to see Giebler and Playa Del Racing turn right at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway June 16 and 17.
