Playa Del Racing Heads to Nashville

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Playa Del Racing will be heading to the Nashville Superspeedway with momentum. PDR is coming off a weekend during which Phil Giebler finished 4th in both races on the famous Watkins Glen International race track.

The team has now earned a top ten finish in six of the last eight races. The momentum will carry Al Unser III to the SunBelt Rentals 100 at the Nashville Superspeedway.

“I’m so excited to be a part of Playa Del Racing right now,” said Unser. “I can’t say enough about how hard these guys work to get our cars up front. Momentum is huge in racing, and we’re starting to feel like we finally have momentum pushing us forward.”

Unser says that splitting time in the seat with Phil Giebler is a positive thing for the drivers and the team.

“PDR has only been running this series for one year, while some of the competition has been doing this for quite a bit longer. We are learning so much each and every time we take the track. Phil’s style is different from mine, so we both are gathering a lot of new data each lap we run. We can learn a lot from each other.”

The aggressive racing style of Giebler has proven to work well on the road courses this year, and Unser’s ability to sit back and move through the field with finesse has helped him be one of the hardest charging drivers in each of the  three races he has run for PDR.

“We have a great thing going for us right now,” said Gary Sallee, co-owner of PDR. “We have two drivers that race hard and bring the car home in one piece. That’s really all we can ask of these guys right now. Every time they take the track, whether Giebler or Unser are in the seat, they get the most out of the car.  Having now worked on the Venture Logistics and Ethos Fuel Reformulator car for a few months, our very talented crew of engineers and mechanics have the car performing better each race.”

The Indy Pro Series will practice and qualify on Friday, and then race Saturday afternoon before the IndyCar Series goes to work on the 1.3 mile oval.
