INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Sean Guthrie will return to the Playa Del Racing Ethos Fuel Reformulator car No.12 for this weekend’s Indy Pro Series race at Kentucky Speedway.
Guthrie Racing, and Playa Del Racing will continue their partnership through the Kentucky event. The partnership was formed for the Mid-Ohio race after Al Unser III’s customary sky blue, and white machine was destroyed in a crash involving Brad Jaeger at the Nashville Superspeedway.
“It will be great to get back into the car after a couple weeks off,” said Guthrie. “We’ve been pretty quick on the ovals recently so I’m excited to get out there, and see if we can get a great result for the Playa Del Racing team.”
Guthrie will continue to drive his distinctive yellow and blue car, but for the second straight race the fans won’t see the usual No.4 on the wing.
“We’re really excited to get back to racing this weekend,” said Playa Del Racing co-owner, Gary Sallee. “Sean has been doing great all year on the ovals, and hopefully with this new joint team effort we will be able to put together a setup that can get the driver and the car’s best finish yet.”
The Indy Pro Series Kentucky 100 will have a different feel to it than any past IPS event. The IPS cars will race at 9p.m. on Saturday night after the IndyCar Series puts on their show early in the evening. This will be the first time that the Indy Pro Series has ever raced at night.
“This should be a fabulous show,” said PDR co-owner, Susan Schafer. “The Pro Series has put on some pretty good races for the fans this year, and I’m sure Kentucky will be no different.”
