INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Sean Guthrie has been doing well on the ovals this year, and in only his second race under the Playa Del Racing flag Guthrie is setting team records.
Guthrie qualified 8th for Indy Pro Series Kentucky 100 at Kentucky Speedway, which is Playa Del Racing’s highest qualifying spot on an oval.
I’m pretty confident going into the race tonight,” said Guthrie. “This will be the highest start for Playa Del Racing on an oval, and I’m really proud to have given that to these guys. This is also the highest I’ve ever qualified on the one and half mile tracks.”
Guthrie has been pretty happy with the car all weekend and after running 7th in the final warm-up he is looking forward to a good race.
“The car is pretty good in race trim, so I think we should have a pretty solid race. The conditions are definitely going to be different tonight that what we saw in the warm up. We will be running at 9pm, which is the first time these cars ever raced under the lights, and the temperatures should drop quite a bit.”
The scorching sun was definitely having an effect on everyone during the final warm up as track temperatures were around the 130 degree mark.
